Voting Question: What do you really know about your dog food?

When the major recalls happened years ago, many people do not realize that the reason over a hundred brands of dog food and cat food were recalled was because the same contaminated gluten products, etc that were in the crappiest dog food were also in some of their favorite dog foods- all blends manufactured at the same plant and with varying formulas with common product in most and different bags.  Because of the recalls, FDA has  enacted changes to help better regulate what is bagged for your pet and how labels list content.  Many people diss certain brands because of associations with content which is reasonable to not want to feed your dog. But look at labels before judging.  Brand names that have been slammed (by me, too) in recent times have caught on to the demand for better dog food and have been making some much better kibble.  Have you learned to read your labels and keep up with recall alerts? Some of the most touted brands have had tons of recalls, but some are known for their good history.  I'm for learning to read and understand labels and keeping  up with recall info. But I am also for getting the dog food you can afford, to the best of your ability. After all, many more families than not cannot afford to only feed organic foods to their human families but try and feed the best within their budget.
